The Jazzman.

My father has been a guitarist for many years and along the way he has made many friends. Over the last few years his "best bro" (for the lack of a less young-kid thing to say) and him started a band together, 45th Avenue. Ravi Subramoney is a well known musician in and around Durban and is also a resident actor in the hilarious comedy shows The Dingalings.

Tonight my Dad came home from his weekly band practice and called me to his room. He had just showed me the best gift that he had (and ever will) receive. His  friend Ravi had handcrafted him a guitar and had named it Jazzman after a song my father had written.
What an amazing gift. I just had to post this up on the blog. Art and music is fashion. But friendship is always in style.

"What a journey of joy and mistakes...I built it for a wonderful friend and brilliant musician who penned the song by the same name and many have heard its distinct African beat...Hey Mr. Jazzman play me a tune. It's been so long since we heard you play." - Ravi

Daddy Daughter Day Durban

My parents have just come back from Cape Town and oh man did I miss them. I took a few days off and spent this entire day with my daddy. We first caught a bit of the Oscar trial and had some tea.
We then headed of to check out the reconstructed Blue Lagoon. The development didn't look fully completed. However the natural beauty of ocean meeting river made up for it all. We also witnessed a local fisherman catch a baby sand shark (I hope he doesn't plan on eating it).
Taking a drive down the coast we noticed a marquee and stage being set up for the Indaba. We meandered through the roads around Ushaka and walked along the canal. The day ended with a stop at the Moyo on the pier. Beautiful sights and my dad. What more could a girl ask for?

Sister Sunday

Sundays don't always have to be sad and gloomy. Turn your Sundays into a day of pure relaxation. Hit the refresh button to warm yourself up to a new week ahead. A week of new possibilities, new ideas and yes, new frustrations. But that is why we have Sunday, to comfort us and remind us that it is ok to just relax and take some time out for ourselves without the constant running around and stress.
This Sunday we were blessed with a beautiful sunshiny day. My sister and I spent the better half of this afternoon at the Botanical Gardens. We arrived with arms full of snacks, cushions and things to read. We left with a gallery full of Instagram worthy pictures and a ready-for-the-weekend-ahead attitude.

PS. A good way to end a Sunday. Movie night. Janine and I are off to the Pavilion, to check out the new movie theatre and watch The Other Woman.

Workers it's your day to werk it. I got some of my new favourites on and had a lovely cup of coffee and chocolate cake with my sister. No better to celebrate Workers Day. Isn't it the most??
